~Elinor's First Spring Basket~
SUPPLIES

I recently made Elinor a soft wool block out of an old felted sweater. The finished toy was among the goodies in her first spring basket. Using this great tutorial, I decided to take advantage of the cube's six sides and embroider each side with the letters of her name. If you're unfamiliar with embroidery you can learn several easy stitches here. The size and colors of your wool cube can be adjusted to suit a particular occasion or child's taste.
SUPPLIES

- Embroidery needle
- Assorted colors of embroidery floss
- Embroidery hoop (if you want to embroider anything onto your felt squares before stitching the block together).
- Wool felt (I used a re-purposed sweater that I felted)
- Batting
- Bell
- Plastic container
- Tape
- Tailors chalk (or equivalent to mark fabric)
- Ruler
- Scissors
The finished product is soft, safe (no small parts to choke on, toxic plastic, or lead paint), and makes a pleasing jingly sound. Can't recommend them highly enough.
